Turning on the system 

  • Turn on the microwave chiller near the NM3 area
  • Turn on the microwave interlock box in the slow controls rack. After about one minute, the value displayed on the “Gem sensor “of the interlock box should be greater than 0.10r.
    • If not, do not proceed and contact the target expert.

  • Turn on the “Varian” power supply in the slow controls rack.
    • Initially, the power supply will on the “Filament delay” state for about 2 minutes
    • After two minutes the power supply will be changed the state to “Standby”. Now the power supply is ready.
    • If the power supply goes to the “Summary fault” state, contact the target expert
  • Change the power supply mode from Local to Remort by pressing the button as in the picture below

  • Turn on the EIP frequency counter in the slow controls rack and press 7 3 7 numeric buttons. This will select the correct frequency band
  • Turn the power supply controller in the control room rack and set the mode to Local. Make sure the power supply is in the Standby mode

  • Now the power supply is ready to transmit the microwave to the target cups.


The microwave VI automatically controls the motor position to maintain the EIP frequency at 140.18 GHz. Make sure the "Track EIP" is on.
