*** Visitors need help to dump or fill out the Waste Generator Pick-up form. ***

Please follow the steps to dump the oil through Building Manager Evan.

  1. Bring the oil in the black canister back to the counting room after accumulating it.  Always use the same funnel to collect the oil from the HR3 to the black canister. Please do not dilute HR3 Oil with other chemicals contaminated through the other funnel that might be used for other purposes, say pouring Isopropyl.
  2. Purchase a 5-gallon Carboy from the FNAL stockroom (~$16).
  3. Before transferring the oil into Carboy, please get in touch with Evan and tell him to fill out Form 10 (HCTT) to pick up the used oil.
  4. After getting his response, the waste generator group will bring the label and pick up the Carboy.
  5. Transfer the HR3 used oil into a 5-gallon Carboy. The online training Chemical Waster Generator [FN000240/CR/00] is required. Please do this activity (pouring the HR3 oil into a Carboy) outside the NM4. Do not spit oil in the counting room.
  6. Once the Waster generator group showed up with a label, hand over the carboy to them.
  7. During this procedure, it must be kept inside if we use the other small containers (like bottles) to store the HR3 Oil in the yellow flammable container.
  8. In that case, pour the oil from the secondary containers to Carboy and make sure there is no free oil in the secondary container.
  9. To dry off the secondary containers from the free oil layers, use the oil dry that you can buy from the FNAL stockroom, but it's in bulk 25 lbs. I have a small card box in the counting room that we can use.
  10. Once the secondary containers are dried off with oil, crush the secondary containers and throw them in the trash. Please see some photos that I attached below.

The Carboy holding an HR3 used oil and the oil separator cartridge also go through the same process.
