Microwave motor control system

Motor controller ORC: Microwave motor Control Box.pdf

Using the microwave system

The microwave VI automatically controls the motor position to maintain the EIP frequency at 140.18 GHz. Make sure the "Track EIP" is on.

  • Restoring the microwave system from fault conditions

Whenever there is a loss of microwave frequency, you will hear a continuous warning sound from the microwave computer.

You will see a blinking "Lost EIP signal!!!" warning on the microwave VI as in the image below

There are three instances where you can hear this warning

    • Case 1 : "Lost EIP signal!!!" on the VI. But EIP on the camera shows frequency numbers

Action needed: Stop the VI by pressing "Stop VI". Restart the VI by pressing the "Run" button

    • Case 2: "Lost EIP signal!!!" on the VI.  EIP on the camera is not showing frequency numbers. There is no fault warning on the microwave power supply in the control room rack.

Action needed: Slightly change the motor position until you see the EIP signal

              • Enter 1 degree in the VI and press the right arrow to move the motor by 1 degree. Keep pressing until you see a signal. If it is not showing anything after 5 presses, change the value to 5 degrees and repeat.  If it is not successful, enter 10 degrees and try.

    • Case 3: "Lost EIP signal!!!" on the VI.  EIP on the camera is not showing frequency numbers. The microwave power supply in the control room rack is in a faulty condition.

Action needed:

              1. Reset the power supply fault state
                • Press the left button to switch to standby mode. Press it again to Transmit. This will reset the fault.

If not, try following

                • Press the left button to switch to standby mode. Press the right button two times (The ode will change from Local → Remort→ Local). Press the left button to switch to Transmit

If not, try following

                • Powercycle the microwave power supply in the slow controls rack using the red toggle switch and Change the mode to Remort. Change the mode to Remort.  Press the left button to switch to Transmit

2. Now you will see frequency numbers on the EIP. If not slightly change the motor position until you see the EIP signal (As in the Case 2 action)
