- Turn ON the RF Signal Generator
- Turn ON the VME crate
- Ensure the GPIB cables is connected and the indicator is blinking (orange ↔ green)
- Turn ON the nuc Computer
- Open the folder 'new_vis_2022'
(The following screenshot shows the contents of that folder. Note: the cursor is not highlighting anything related to this step but for a later step to open the NMRFswitch)
- Open the 'README.txt' file. This file contains the original notes by Kun Liu. The following steps are also same as the ones that are mentioned in this README.txt file.
- Open. 'SX Virtual Link' on the Windows Menu
- Double-click on each component at a time and connect all the modules.
- Open NBEclipse
- Click the 'search' button and wait until there is a pop-up window appears with the IP address (remember this IP address for a few minutes).
192.168.24.146 - Click the 'connect' button and wait until you can see the numbers populated below the 'connect' button. If the numbers don't appear within 30 seconds, click the 'connect' button again.
- Click on RFSwitch3, and then click open with LabView
- Select the correct channel that you connected the coil (in this example was CH2), and press the run button (of the VI), and you should expect the 'green button' if the GPIB is connected properly.
If you don't see the 'green light', then check the GPIB cable, disconnect it and re-connect, then re-start from Step 1.
- Click on 'NMRFSwitch' VI
- It will ask you to select 'Netburner_cntlTCP'. Then press 'OK', and after that press 'ignore' on the load warning summary.
- On the E1039 NMR Panel, select the Channel 2 → enter the IP address from Step #12 → enter the 'Peak Center' frequency (in this example it is 213 MHz) and other values as shown below.
- Enable "Tune" using the toggle switch, and then press the "Run" button. (see the screenshot below).
- Then press the 'STOP' button in the VI screen next to the Channel selection drop-down list (see the screenshot below).
- Check values on the "Settings" panel of the "Globe 2.vi", comparing with the following sample screenshot.
Note: This is for proton (NH3) tuning at 5 T.
- You will see a small window appear with the setting of 'Diode tune' in the drop-down list. Adjust the "Tune Voltage" until you start seeing the Q-curve.
Note: Start with small adjustments by changing the first decimal place to get an idea about the sensitivity of the "Tune Voltage" to the amplitude vs frequency graph on the "Global 2.vi screen".
Note: This Diode Tune for the Cold-NMR will only be done by varying the variable capacitor on the circuit. Use a small flat screwdriver with small adjustments until you start seeing the Q-curve. - Once you are done with the Diode Tune, switch to the 'Phase Tune' using the drop-down list.
- Adjust the Phase Voltage using the VI until you obtain the U-shape curve.
Note: For the COLD NMR → Change the cable length that connects the RF splitter box to the reference - Once the Phase Tune also completed, then change the drop-down list to the "Operational Tune" and make sure everything looks fine. You can make small adjustments to the Diode Tune and Phase Tune in this mode.
- Then 'STOP' the VI, and uncheck the 'Tune' toggle button, and re-run the VI by pressing the "Run" button of the NMRFMswitch.vi.
This will start taking data (the location of the data files is displayed on the VI).
