How to find the department location you need?

For example, you are searching for the status of referrals you made to cardiology.  You would like to see if your patients have already been seen in that clinic.  With the referral data model, you can do that, but you will need to specify the clinic that you are interested in.

You can first search for the specialty by typing first 3-5 letters of the common specialty names.

Some general suggestions may help:

  • CARD for cardiology
  • PULM for pulmonology,
  • NEPHRO for nephrology, etc.

Let’s search for cardiology clinic locations (see screenshot below).  Typing in CARD returned more than 50 locations:

You can then browse through this list by focusing on the beginning four letter abbreviation that indicate the location (see Glossary for more details)

  1. UVPC – Primary Care Center
  2. UVHE – UVA Medical Center campus
  3. UVBB – Battles Building
  4. Fxxx – letter F followed by three digits refer to locations in the Fontaine Research Park
  5. NDRG – Northridge Medical Park
