The following VI file should be kept running; "D:\e1039\labview_work\TestIR\bos_eos_mostreal_atBOS.vi".  It is to detect the BOS & EOS signals to update the BOS, EOS & SPILLCOUNTER variables on EPICS;

The turn-off/on procedures below are temporary as the configuration is being changed. The procedure is described by Misha in DocDB 7683 also.  We had better merge the documentation when appropriate.

Turn-Off procedure

  1. Write down the last spill ID, which is shown in the VI front panel.
  2. Close the VI file, by clicking the right-top Close button of the window.  Do not  save any change, if asked.
  3. Shut down the computer.

The LV code can be just killed in the usual way.

Turn-On procedure

  1. In order to bring it back, one has to find the version of the code which ends with BOS in the e1039 folder (That means it is a latest version where spill ID iteration happens at BOS).
  2. Open the power shell and see if you can establish connection to the EPICS server with regular caget camonitor commands.
  3. Turn on the network disks manually (it is on the right side of the front panel). Please make sure that the NIM bin with the gate generator for BOS/EOS is on. it   It is in the bottom of the right most rack.
  4. Boot the computer and login as "e1039daq".
  5. Open Launch the power shell with and execute "camonitor BOS EOS SPILLCOUNTER.
  6. Check the last spill ID generated with caget SPILLCOUNT
  7. Open the LV code. Locate the variable responsible for initial value of the spill ID.
  8. ", in order to check if you can establish connection to the EPICS server.
  9. Start the VI file, by double-clicking the file icon in the file browser.
  10. Turn on the network disks manually.  It is on the right side of the front panel.
  11. Replace the initial spill ID shown in the VI front panel with "last spill ID + 1" that you wrote down in the turn-off procedure.
  12. Start VI, by clicking the arrow icon in the VI front panelPut in a new number which is bigger than what you got from caget.
