Example

A bar chart is a chart used to compare grouped data. The bars span horizontally across the y-axis and display their values along the x-axis, as seen in the example above.

Spreadsheet Format

Note:

These will appear beneath each set of bars on the x-axis

This column represents a bar in your chartcreates the bar for the category in Column 1
Bars in the same column share a group

A second y-value for the category The value of column 1 as displayed on the x-axis

Note:

This creates a second bar for the category in Column 1
This forms creates a second set of bars on your chart

Label

Category of the bar on the y-axis

Notes:

Category of the bar in the legend

group of bars in the legend
You can have as many groups as you need: each new column makes a group

Data Label

The title of the x-axis

Note:

This will appear below the individual labels on the x-axis

The bar's group

Note:

This determines the color of the bar; bars in the same group will share a color
This labels the group (and group color) in the legend
