Loading the Insert (All target members at Counting House should help organize when this is an ammonia loading job)
Step | Time frame | Location | Personnel | Critical Points |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Day Before | NM4 Target Loading Area Cryo-platform | Target Insert Team NMR Team | Infrastructure Checks: Make sure insert coils and temperatures sensors are working. Check that each NMR coil is able to see the crystal signal. Check the each Cernox is work in LN2. Make sure each Q-meter is working and each Lambda/2 cable is connected well and you have seen a crystal signal with each prior to target insert installation. Make sure microwave have been tested and all is ready. |
2 | 1 hour before | NM4 Target Loading Area | Any Target Team member | Stage the Target Loading: Fill the target loading tub with LN2 at least 60-30 minutes ahead. It will take 5 trips. This should be done before calling the RSO, IH, ES&H or anyone else that is coming out to watch. At this time check that the tools that are needed are laid out on the table, that the microwave and NMR tools are in the little plastic bag on the insert rack, that the insert handle is on the insert, that the screw driver for the lids is there. |
3 | Before going into Hall | Target Controls (Counting House) | Target Expert | Close gate valve and GV-bypass for backfilling, ensure the fridge is no fuller than 20% otherwise boil it off with the annealing plates, ensure the target actuator position is in Middle position. |
4 | Before going in | Hall Corridor into NM4 | Target Loading Team | Ensure PPE for the occasion is used and that you sign the RWP (they check). Obtain material from shed and bring it down to NM4 and put in LN2 bath ready for loading. |
5 | During Procedure | NM4 Target Loading Area | Target Loading Team | Load target. Take photo of the bottle before loading and bottle label. After loading take photo of the loaded insert before putting lid on. |
6 | During Procedure | NM3 Cave | Target Loading Team | Check that there is a backup seal available. Load insert. Connect NMR cables and microwaves. Put tools back in little plastic bag. Turn off cave light. |
7 | After procedure | Target Controls (Counting House) | Target Expert | Open gv-bypass or gate valve. As soon as possible after the target insert is loaded the Target Expert should fill the fridge to keep material cold. |
8 | After procedure | Target Controls (Counting House) | Target Expert | After procedure update the target inventory and post an FNAL elog about what material is in each target location. |
Unloading the Insert (All target members at Counting House should help organize when this is an ammonia unloading job)
