How to filter for types or classes of medications

For many data models, you can type in ‘medication’ in the search field, choose the ‘medication’ filter.

Then you will need to specify which medication or class of medication you are looking for.  Searching for specific medication (e.g. oxycodone), you can simply search by name.  If you want to search for all opioid, for example, then you will need to use what is called ‘groupers’.  Groupers are basically a list of items that belong to the same grouping.  Medication groupers are lists of medications as defined by their class, in this case opioid.  There often are many groupers for the same class of drugs; the name should clarify the difference.  Choosing one of these groupers will allow you to search for patients who have one or more drugs of the specified class on their current medication list.  In this case, you would choose ‘ERX General Opioids for Reporting Total’ (There is one named ‘ERX General Opioids for Reporting (without Tramadol)’
